What Are Dentures & Partials?

A denture as well as a partial are both prosthetic appliances that are designed to improve the look and functionality of your smile. Whether you’re missing many or all of your teeth, you can feel confident in knowing that the new denture can improve your smile. Dentures are made for each individual patient, so they always feel and look completely natural.

Why Are Dentures & Partials Needed?

If you’re missing many or all of your teeth, it can be difficult to eat, chew and even speak. Your face may look sunken-in, which can significantly age you and cause you to appear older than you truly feel. Dentures offer cosmetic and functional benefits to your smile. They help to fill in your smile so that you look younger, and they make eating and chewing your favorite foods more enjoyable.

Who Is A Candidate For Dentures & Partials?

If you have advanced gum disease, we might recommend removing the remaining teeth and then placing a denture. This is simply because gum disease, in its later stages, can cause tooth and bone loss. We will perform an examination to determine if you might benefit from a denture. If you need a new denture made to replace an older one, we will be able to do this easily for you in the office.

What Happens During The Denture & Partial Process?

The process begins by taking impressions, or molds, of your teeth and gums. We then use these impressions to craft a brand new partial or denture just for you. Dentures are best for patients missing an entire arch of teeth while partials are geared towards patients who still have a lot of their own healthy teeth. You will come into the office to have the new denture fitted. We can make some minor adjustments in our office and will provide you with instructions on how to best care for your new denture at home.

If you would like to learn more about both dentures and partials, call us today so that we can provide you with further assistance.
